The popular cross platform, open source media player VLC today released its latest version 2.0.2 codenamed “Two Flower”. The new releases fixes a hundreds of bugs and aims to make it more stable. Main features of the new release include:
- Retina display support for Mac OS X
- Improved interface for Mac OS X
- Support for H264 v4l2 devices on Linux
- Faster decoding on multi-core, GPU and mobile hardware
- Enhancements in HLS, Blu-Ray and various codecs support
- Fixes for subtitles auto-detection
Install VLC 2.0.2:
To install the latest version of VLC media player, use the following commands in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
VLC 2.0.2 has already landed in Software Centre in Ubuntu 12.10.
