It’s been a long time since I did not write anything in desktop customization category. It’s because I did not find anything worth sharing with you lately.
However, last week I came across this beautiful flat icon theme Masalla and I immediately fell for it. You might have noticed, ‘flat’ is the current trend in the design world. And I am a sucker for flat looks.Masalla icon theme is developed by Iraqi engineer Hayder Majid. The name of this project is “inspired from Obelisk name (like Obelisk of Hammurabi in History of Iraq) in Arabic language and Uruk city”.
Install Masalla icon theme in Ubuntu and Linux Mint
Installing Masalla icon theme in Ubuntu and other Ubuntu based Linux distributions such as Linux Mint, elementary OS etc is very easy, thanks to .deb package provided by the developer.
Download the executable .deb file of Masalla icon theme:
Double click on the downloadable file to install it. If you are using Ubuntu, I advise you to use Gdebi instead of Ubuntu Software Center because it is lightweight and faster than the sluggish Software Center.
The theme is available for all major desktop environment like Unity, GNOME, Cinnamon, KDE etc.
For Linux Mint, you can do it in the system settings itself. No third party tool required.
Here is what it looks like in Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon edition.
Install Masalla icon theme in Arch Linux
yaourt -S masalla-icon-theme
You can use the icon using the standard tool for your desktop environment.
I hope you like this theme. If you try, do share your experience in the comment box below :)
