No one like ads. But they are necessary evils.
The ads allow publishers like us to continue providing content free of charge to the readers. Also, readers like you cannot subscribe to every website you come across.
It's FOSS has Plus membership that costs just $24 per year which is roughly $2 per month, less than the cost of a burger. We also launched lifetime subscription with a single payment of $76 (until Tuxmas days).
With Plus membership, you don't see any ads. That's super.
Now, for our free members, we are reducing the number of ads 🎉
So, if you are logged in as a free member, you should see fewer ads. How cool is that!
To pinpoint exact changes:
- On It's FOSS main (itsfoss.com), you won't see the floating video player and the sidebar ad under table of contents.
- On It's FOSS News (news.itsfoss.com), you won't see the quiz unit at the bottom that comes with two ad units.
Ad layout may change in the future and even when that happens, there will still be fewer ads for free members.
