OBS Studio 32.0 Arrives With Plugin Manager, NVIDIA RTX Audio, and Hybrid MOV Support

The latest OBS update brings changes streamer will appreciate.

OBS Studio is a free, open source video recording and live streaming utility that many streamers and creators (including us) rely on for their content creation needs. It is a cross-platform app that offers powerful tools without the trap of a subscription or restrictive licenses.

With each update, OBS gets faster and more flexible. It supports plugins, multiple scenes, and advanced encoding options, giving creators great control over both audio and video.

The latest release takes it all a step further.

OBS Studio adds a plugin manager with this release, making it easier to enable or disable plugins. While still basic, users can browse the list of installed plugins and enable/disable them but can't update plugins from the app yet.

Nonetheless, it’s a solid step toward a cleaner, more modular setup.

NVIDIA RTX users get some long-awaited audio upgrades. Voice Activity Detection (VAD) now reduces background noise automatically, while the background removal tool can now remove chairs, keeping videos looking tidy without extra legwork.

Recording has also been improved with support for the Hybrid MOV format. It supports ProRes on macOS and HEVC/H.264 with PCM audio on all platforms.

Similarly, crash reporting is simpler with this update. Windows and macOS users can automatically upload crash logs (opt-in) so the developers can more easily spot and fix bugs without users needing to submit anything manually.

Creators on Linux will notice better PipeWire support that has resulted in improved format selection, making recording on Linux systems a much smoother experience.

For Apple Silicon Mac users, OBS Studio 32.0 introduces experimental Metal renderer support, which can improve performance and graphics handling. It has not been finalized yet, but it’s a promising buff.
