Sustain: A Different Kind of Open Source Event

Last month I told you about Open Source conference in Albania. If you are not in Albania or cannot attend that conference, no worries.

The good thing about the Open Source Software movement is that there are year round events happening across the globe. And today, I am going to tell you about another open source event which is slightly different than the usual events.

Sustain: A different kind of Open Source event

Sustain Open Source Conference

Sustain OSS (where OSS stands for Open Source Software) is an upcoming event in San Francisco. It will be held at GitHub headquarter on 19th June. This will be the first chapter of Sustain OSS event.

What sets Sustain apart from the regular open source event is the theme/agenda of the event itself.

See, normally an event has keynote speakers, exposition halls or talks by the industry leaders. Sustain doesn’t have any of these. Sustain is basically a one-day conversation opportunity for open source software enthusiasts. It will be a guided discussion to gather concrete ideas about getting and distributing money or in-kind services to the Open Source community.

This event aims to bring together those who evangelize and passionately advocate for open source contributors needs.

Is this an event for you?

Yes, if you care about Open Source and passionately advocate for the needs of open source contributors. Yes, if you promote Open Source on the internet through blogs, social media etc.

In short, if you are a passionate Open Source evangelist and want to take part in a discussion with like-minded people from the industry, this event is for you.

Tickets, dates and venue

As mentioned before, the event is being held at GitHub HQ in San Francisco, USA on 19th June 2017.

There are various kinds of tickets available with price ranging from $0 to $1000. A regular ticket costs $50 while it could be free for students. If you want, you can sponsor the event with $1000 ticket.
