Fix iPhone Ipad not charging via USB in Linux

“Not charging” says your Apple device when you plug it to your Linux computer via USB? You may encounter this issue as the USB port may not supply enough power to charge the iPad or iPhone. Don’t worry, we have a fix for iPhone or iPad not charging via USB in Linux and it’s called iPad Charge.

Good thing about iPad Charge is that it should speed up the charging. Which means even with use of iPad Charge, your Apple device might charge faster than usual.

Charge iPhone or iPad in Linux via USB with iPad Charge

If you are using Ubuntu, Linux Mint or other distributions based on Ubuntu, you can install iPad Charge via the following PPA:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:heathbar/ipad-charge

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0 ipad-charge

For other distributions, you can get the source code form the Github. Once installed, restart your computer and plugin your Apple device. Your iPhone or iPad should be charging now.

In fact not able to charge iPhone or iPad via USB in Linux is not the only problem you may encounter. If you are using iOS7, you may stuck in an infinite loop of “trust this computer” pop up. We definitely need more compatibility of Linux and Apple devices, don’t we?
