You have to install a number of things after installing Ubuntu 13.04. SKype is among the must have application in any OS. And it is probably one of the only few things that run in Linux despite of being a Microsoft property. But if you look for Skype in Software Center in Ubuntu 13.04, you won’t find it there. In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you how to install Skype in Ubuntu 13.04.
Install Skype In Ubuntu 13.04 via terminal:
Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and use the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ $(lsb_release -sc) partner"
The above command adds the Canonical Partner with automatically determining the architecture of your Ubuntu OS.
Now update and install Skype using the following command:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install skype
That’s it. Once you have Skype installed, start it in searching for it in Unity Dash. Hope it helps.
